One of the only speed improvements is the direct action feature where you can quickly force idle settlers to do a job. ![]() You can see absolutely everything happening, instead of relying on automation and a growing number in the UI. Every fish that is caught or tree that is chopped is personally brought to the storehouse and then made available for use. The developer leading the showcase made it clear that everything is happening in real time and there are no graphs and statistics. I watched as military trainees scaled a wall, some falling and others making the cut. Each individual settler looks fantastic and there are detailed animations tied to every movement, down to the minutiae of life. ![]() Probably the main upgrade is the use of Ubisoft’s Snowdrop engine. The Settlers is a very classical ‘build-up’ strategy game, and Ubisoft has brought back the original creator, Volker Wertich as the creative director on the new title, which is set to launch in Fall 2019.Īs you can imagine, making it familiar to those who love the series is key here, but that doesn’t mean that Ubisoft hasn’t done its best to bring the game into the modern day. I got to sit down for a hands-off presentation of a pre-Alpha build of the game.
